I am Laura Kate Tressler, a Licensed Professional Counselor, practicing in Doylestown, PA.  This Must Be The Place (A Life Counseling Experience) is my private practice, the culmination of five years spent in group practice following eight years in non-profit community mental health. The time that I've spent learning and growing in non-profit settings has given me the experience and confidence to live the adage, “choose a job that you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”.

At the forefront of my approach is open-mindedness, non-judgment, acceptance, candor, authenticity and humor. It's my goal to create an environment that makes clients feel safe enough to set goals and confident enough in their own abilities to learn new skills and attain them. I help the people I work with to develop a practice of thinking and living well, as well as, maintaining it.

This Must Be The Place (A Life Counseling Experience), is a "nod" to the Talking Heads song, "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)", one of my favs. "This Must Be The Place" & the spirit of the song, has always resonated with me.  It refers to a feeling; one that I have about my practice and one that I strive to hold in my personal life. One that I hope I can share with you.  I am passionate about the experience of counseling and creating an environment where my clients find our time together as enjoyable as it is helpful, even invaluable.

Distressing feelings like (but not limited to!) sadness, anger and fear are universal experiences; it's when we can't move through them that they begin to define our lives.  Getting stuck in a cycle of negative thought and emotion keeps us from reaching our highest potential.  If you want to" feel" differently, you'll have to think differently. and I can help with that.
